Mahabubnagar: Tension prevailed for some time when unidentified persons hurled water bottles and mangoes on the vehicle from which Telugu Desam leader Nara Lokesh was addressing the people at Pebbair in Mahabubnagar district on Sunday. Lokesh arrived in Pebberu late in the evening after concluding his road show in Alampur. In the midst of Lokesh’s speech, the miscreants hurled bottles and mangoes. Following the attack, Nagarkurnool MP candidate and district TDP president Bakkani Narsimhulu, who was beside Lokesh atop the vehicle, lost balance and fell down.
Bakkani Narsimhulu suffered injury to his leg and was rushed to a private hospital in Shamshabad. Later, it was confirmed as a fracture. Enraged by this, the TDP workers damaged an Indica Vista vehicle of a TRS leader. The TRS activists in turn smashed the window panes of a Tavera vehicle belonging to the BJP. The police resorted to mild lathi-charge and brought the situation under control.
Lokesh said that such attacks would not prevent him from going ahead with his campaigning. He said he would tour every village in Telangana. Later, he left for his road show at Jadcherla. The police took two suspects into custody and are investigating. It is said that some persons had raised slogans that the TDP had acted against Telangana and started hurling the bottles.
