Nellore: The Excise police were shocked on Wednesday when they ‘struck’ liquor bottles in hundreds while digging the field of a YSRCP leader in the district. The aghast police deployed poclains to dig out the ‘treasure’. Thousands of liquor bottles were found hidden in the field of Chinapa Reddy, a follower of YSRCP leader and Sarvepalli candidate Kakani Goverdhan Reddy, at Pallipadu Dibba, of Muthukuru mandal. As many as 105 cases of liquor bottles were recovered. About 200 liquor bottles were seized from the YSRCP leaders at Kavali two days ago. The party allegedly prepared the ground for distributing liquor in Rayalaseema. Police said the seized liquor, estimated to be worth Rs 5 lakh, was manufactured in Himachal Pradesh and Goa. They suspect liquor might have been stored in other places also.
