Kerosene diversion unchecked

Piduguralla (Guntur): Kondamodu of Piduguralla mandal in Guntur district has become hub of illegal kerosene sales. The blue kerosene intended for supply under Public Distribution System is being supplied to truck drivers who prefer kerosene to diesel. As the kerosene is available at half the price of diesel here, the illegal sale of blue kerosene is fetching. The officials of Civil Supplies have failed to act against the kerosene diversion at Kondamodu. Four gangs have actively been involved in the trade here. Sources revealed that out of the total 35 ration dealers in Piduguralla town, about 20 have been involved in diversion of the fuel intended for supply to white ration card holders. With a few card holders preferring LPG, the dealers have been taking advantage to make money out of surplus kerosene stock.
