To create a strong mindset among women

Broadridge Financial Solutions (India) Pvt Ltd, conducted the 2nd installment of self-defence workshop for its women associates at their Hitec City campus on Thursday. The workshop is one of the many initiatives under Broadridge India’s Gender Inclusivity programme titled, Advika, aimed at empowering its women workforce, both psychologically and physically.

The ‘Women’s Psyche Strengthening and Physical Training Workshop’ was aimed at creating a strong mindset among the women, enabling them to make timely risk assessments and tackle risky situations. The four- hour workshop was divided into two sessions -Psychological Strengthening and Physical Strengthening & Practice. The training was conducted by SINEW, an organisation which imparts martial arts and defensive training to women across the country.

The training provided an elaborate theoretical and practical demonstration of techniques to create a defensive mindset during scenarios like how to protect themselves when they are being attacked in a moving bus, moving car, lift, parking lots or when attacked by multiple aggressors with or without weapon.

The first batch of training conducted last month was attended by a group of 25 women associates including some of the seniors. Demystifying myths, inhibitions, perpetrator profiles, coping with stress, assertiveness, stalling and negotiation techniques were the areas covered during the training.

Rajita Singh, head, human resources, Broadridge India, said, “We at Broadridge believe in a holistic development of our workforce. Women empowerment should be approached with the correct mindset before addressing the physical training aspect. This workshop was organised to encourage women associates to be emotionally and mentally prepared during such unforeseen events. However, this is an inclusive workshop, not just limited to our women associates, and will include both genders in other batches.”

Broadridge India regularly conducts different kinds of training sessions and workshops for its associates. Recently a new-born handling workshop was conducted for women associates. Besides this workshops like chocolate making, card making, gift wrapping, turning waste into art etc workshops had been conducted in the past to promote holistic development of the associates.
