Hyderabad: The APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy and the chairman of campaign committee, K Chiranjeevi are leaving for Delhi on Wednesday morning.

These leaders apart from participating in the screening committee meeting to select the candidates for Assembly and Lok Sabha will also urge upon the party high command to convince Priyanka Gandhi to address few meetings in Andhra Pradesh where the party is facing an uphill task.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Congress Election Committee held at Indira Bhavan here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Raghuveera Reddy, Chiranjeevi, former ministers Kanna Lakshminaranayana, Vatti Vasanta Kumar, Botcha Satyanarayana, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad and KVP Ramachandra Rao. Union ministers MM Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi and JD Seelam were among those who attended the meeting.
The meeting is learnt to have shortlisted names of the probable candidates. They have recommended a panel of three names each constituency. The committee has received about 900 applications for 175 Assembly seats in the region, the APCC president said.
Meanwhile it is learnt that the Congress high command has finalised the name of Ghattamaneni Adiseshagiri Rao for the Kukatapally Assembly constituency. He is the brother of veteran Telugu actor, Krishna.
