Move to update database for Nov. civic polls

District Election Officer Somesh Kumar said that the administration would be updating the election database for the ensuing GHMC Elections in November. The DEO, along with Hyderabad collector Mukesh Kumar Meena and joint collector E Sridhar, inspected several counting centres in the district on Saturday.

Somesh Kumar said that there were a lot of flaws in the election database as most of the voters were either dead or had transferred to another location.

Somesh added that on April 30, when the district headed out to vote, 40 lakh SMSes were sent to voters of which 2 lakh people utilised the SMS service to locate their polling centres.

Responding to the poor turnout of voters in the city on the polling day, Somesh said, “The voting percentage would increase only when people in the city feel that voting is their first duty.”
