Passport On The Same Day. The regional passport office in the city has broken another barrier and set a new record by delivering a passport in a day. On September 29, the office processed 2 crorerth passport of the country since the new Passport Seva Kendra system was put in place.
Hyderabad Passport Office sets another record
Two months old Anaika Dia from Old City is the proud recipient of the two croreth passport on the same day. Two crore passports have been processed across the country in a day under the Passport Seva Kendra system.
The regional passport office in the city has broken another barrier and set a new record by delivering a passport in a day. On September 29, the office processed 2 crorerth passport of the country since the new Passport Seva Kendra system was put in place.
Two-month-old Anaika Dia, daughter of Saleem Pasha Mohammed and Yasmin Kalluri from the Old City, was issued the passport. The application was accepted under the Tatkal scheme at the Tolichowki Passport Seva Kendra at 10.30 am. It was printed at 12.18 pm and was delivered at 2.28 pm the same day.
Yasmin Kalluri, mother of the baby, expressed her happiness for the excellent service.
“We are lucky that our child has become the 2 croreth passport holder. This is a memorable event in our life,” she said.
Ashwini Sattaru, the new Regional Passport Officer, Hyderabad, said that 4.68 lakh passports had been issued in the first three quarters of 2014. The RPO, Hyderabad, also set a national record in August this year where 84,806 passports were issued in a month. In the last three months alone, 1.99 lakh passports have been issued.
“The RPO in the city has been issuing passports in the quickest time possible when compared to other offices across the country. Several new initiatives have been introduced and upgraded for the benefit of the applicants visiting the passport office with their grievances. The office has put in place a citizen-friendly and strong grievance redressal system to ensure quick service,” said Ashwini.
On an average around 400-500 applicants visit the RPO, Hyderabad, every day between 9.30 and 11.30 am, five days a week, with grievances for which a helpdesk, three enquiry assistants, three dedicated officers of the rank of Superintendent and above have been appointed to clear the cases everyday across the counters.
One address re-verification counter, one counter for payment of penalties, policy and Legal officers to address complicated cases like divorced parents, date of birth, adoption etc, have also been appointed. In addition, an applicant can always request for audience with the Deputy Passport Officer or Regional Passport Officer, in case he/she is aggrieved with the process being followed.
Passport mela and camp
A passport mela and a camp is being held on October 18 in Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Karimnagar and Warangal NIT campus, Online appointments will be available from October 15 starting 9.30 am. Applicants can log on to the website www.passportindia.gov.in to book their appointments. Vijayawada PSK and Tirupathi PSK will issue 500 appointments each for the mela. Karimnagar PSLK and Warangal NIT will issue 150 appointments each for the camp.
