Manasika Vikasa Kendram will celebrate the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on a grand scale, in association with various NGOs and the department of disabled welfare, at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium (IGMC) in the city on Wednesday.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Vikasa Kendram founder-president Paladugu Parvathi Devi said the organisation was set up in 1983 for the welfare of children with disabilities and mentally retarded.
“We have taken up many programmes to educate people on the challenges faced by the children with disabilities.
Provision of education and care to the children with disabilities are the areas of focus of the Kendram,” she said.
Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha will participate in the celebrations. The Vikas Kendram has planned day-long programmes to mark the occasion. Children with disabilities will present a variety of cultural programmes. Officials of the women and child welfare department will also take part in the event.
