Scientists should take up more research on genomics and stem cells to find effective remedies to genetic diseases, said M Basaveswara Rao, special officer of PG Centre, Krishna University.
Speaking at the valedictory of a two-day international conference on ‘Genomics and Stem Cells’, organised by the Departments of Zoology, Botany and Chemistry of Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana (KBN) College, in association with the Union Ministry of Science and Technology, on Wednesday, Rao said, “Stress has become a major health hazard in modern life. Hence it is essential to do research on stress and other health problems associated with the busy modern life for the well-being of mankind.''
Indian Medical Association (IMA) State president Dr Srinivasa Raju, college correspondent and secretary S Rajith Kumar, principal V Narayana Rao, Osmania University professor PB Kavi Kishore, scientific project coordinator B Harika and others spoke on the occasion. Later, merit certificates were presented to the students of various colleges, who presented research papers at the international conference.
