Sankranti fervour at Nalanda, ‘Sankranti Sandadi’ was celebrated at Nalanda Vidyaniketan in the city on Thursday. Students participated in the celebrations enthusiastically.

Speaking on the occasion, headmistress Madala Padmaja and correspondent A Vijay Babu said the school organised the celebrations to educate children on the rich Telugu culture and heritage.
The school campus was richly decorated for the occasion. The festivities included theme-based rangolis, Bhogi Mantalu, Gangireddu and Haridas keerthanas. Ariselu, chakralu and other special delicacies specially prepared for Sankranti in Coastal Andhra were displayed. Competitions on the various activities that are conducted on Sankranti were held for students. ‘Bommala Koluvu’ and kite-flying were also held. Parents also took part in the celebrations.
Dara Karuna of Karuna’s Nimble Cosmetic World and chef Madhav Krishna of Indus College of Hotel Management visited the stalls set up and complimented the students for highlighting Telugu culture through their creativity. Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held to mark the occasion.
