Registrations for the Godavari 5K Run, scheduled for April 12, began at Rajahmundry on Friday. The organising committee headed by Kali Konduryalong along with MP Maganti Murali Mohan and Rajahmundry Mayor Rajani Seshasai unveiled the logo and t-shirt for the event.

The run aims to promote running as the primary form of fitness. The event is designed and developed to celebrate the spirit of Rajahmundry and the legendary river Godavari. The inaugural edition which is scheduled for April 12, 2015 is expected to see 5,000+ runners (elite and amateur) from across the state of Andhra Pradesh and the nation.

The event which is first of its kind in Rajahmundry will be Timed 5 K run with all participants receiving a RFID chip to measure individual time. Celebrities and people from all walks of life are expected to attend the event and promote the cause of fitness and active lifestyle. Top three finishers in different categories will receive cash prizes and each finisher will get a medal and certificate of participation.

“We have an exciting event planned not only for runners, but for all the citizens of the Rajahmundry area. The event is planned to create awareness about healthy lifestyle and running. We invite runners of all abilities to register and participate in the run,” said Rajani Seshasai.

MP Maganti Murali Mohan said, “This is a wonderful initiative to promote sports, wellness and health for the citizens of Rajahmundry and the state of Andhra Pradesh.”Kali Kondury added that more than 5,000 runners are expected to participate.
