Palestine honours Syed Vicaruddin. Syed Vicaruddin, Chairman of Indo-Arab League of Hyderabad and Chief Editor of Rahnuma-e-Deccan became the first Indian to receive the \'Star of Jerusalem\' - the highest civilian honour of Palestine, on Saturday.

Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habash, Supreme Judge and Special Advisor to President of Palestine Mahmood Abbas conferred the award upon Vicaruddin during an event at his residence. Speaking on the occasion, Mahmoud Habash said the award was a distinct honor bestowed on rare occasions.

“I am honored to be representing Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas to confer this prestigious award. The award is a tribute to “over four decades of his (Syed Vicaruddin's) continued, principled support, for the Palestinian Struggle for the realisation of statehood, sovereignty and self determination".

Receiving the award, Vicaruddin thanked President Mahmood Abbas for bestowing the honor on him. He also assured of continued support for the cause of Palestinian peace. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali also spoke on the occasion.

Ambassador of Palestine Adnan Abu Alhaijaa, Minister of Embassy of Palestine (New Delhi) Saleh Fhied Mohammed, Dr Mir Akbar Ali Khan, Vice President - Indo-Arab League Hyderabad and Syed Ahmed Amir Khan - project director of Indo-Arab Cultural Centre were also present on the occasion.
