The first Telangana State Formation Day that concluded on a grand note at Tank Bund on Sunday had a fair amount of patronisation from the sports fraternity. Various associations and clubs joined in the celebrations with the conduct of several events that were spread over three to four days.

In a colourful ceremony, the awards were given away at Lal Bahadur Stadium late Saturday night. A feature of the celebration was the regatta that was held at Hussainsagar Lake. The prize distribution function saw Micheal Mullins, Consul-General of the US Embassy, who informed that he was delighted with the talents of the young sailors.
