Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samithi is hosting a six day National Silk Expo at Sri Satya Sai Nigamagamam that will conclude on June 29. Tollywood actress Priyanka of ‘Prema Ledani’ fame inaugurated the expo on Wednesday. “Platforms such as this are required to reach out to women looking for well-designed handmade cotton, silk wear and exclusive home textile which can see the blend of different style and concept of silk handloom creations coming together under one roof,” actress Priyanka Ramana said on the occasion.
The organiser of National Silk Expo, Jayesh said, “More than 60 designers and artisans from 14 handloom weaving states are part of this year’s exhibition. The main social objective of the handloom exhibition is to promote weavers and encourage and provide a market to the handloom industry. Through these exhibitions, we have been able to create good market for the weavers and their handloom woven ware, even in places where exhibitions are not feasible.
