BBPPL plans to vaccinate around 4,000 stray dogs free of cost in coordination with the GHMC and Blue Cross. “Free vaccination will also taken up in government hospitals in Seetharambagh, Bhoiguda, Kukatpally, Patancheru, Sangareddy and Sangareddy,” disclosed Mourya Boda, managing director, BBPPL Mourya added that the company will also create awareness in schools by organising essay writing and painting competitions as she feels that the awareness should start from grassroots level.



“People can get zoonotic diseases from contact with infected live poultry, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and other domestic and wild animals. A common way for these diseases to spread is through the bite of a mosquito or tick. People can get diseases in most places where they might have contact with infected animals and insects,” Mourya Boda added.



The most common zoonotic diseases are plague, tuberculosis, cat scratch fever, tick paralysis, hantavirus, ringworm, salmonellosis, leptospirosis, lyme disease, campylobacter infection, giardia infection, cryptosporidium infection, roundworms, hookworms, scabies, harvest mites and rabies.
