Minister urges Centre to bring Suryapet onto railway map

New Delhi: Minister for Power G Jagadeeswar Reddy here on Wednesday met Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu and appealed to him to bring Suryapet in Nalgonda District onto the Railway map. Jagadeeswar Reddy said Suryapet railway line could be integrated to Bonakal-Chityal line or Khammam-Miryalaguda line or Khammam-Miryalaguda line,

so that the people of the area were benefited. He urged the Union Minister to include the proposal in the upcoming Railway Budget and provide necessary funds for the survey work. The Railway Minister reportedly assured the Minister that he would explore the possibility under private public partnership if an initiative was taken by the State government under the new policy.

He later met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to plead with him for release of funds for establishing a radio station at Suryapet. His other engagements in the Capital included a meeting with the Union Minister of Roads Nitin Gadkari for taking up the pending projects. Earlier, the Minister took part in a Green Energy Summit organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
