Hyderabad: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday stayed the conduct of the 24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship by two factions of the Gymnastics Federation of India at two different places at Hyderabad and Mohali in March and April, according to information recived here.

Justice Rajesh Bindal issued a notice to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for filing its reply by March 9. The directions came during the hearing of a petition filed by international gymnast Prabhjot Kaur Bajwa, a Chandigarh resident.

Justice Bindal observed, “Two events under the same title cannot be permitted to be held. Accordingly, it is directed that till such time the issue is finally decided, none of the factions of the federation will hold 24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship.”

Appearing for the petitioner, senior advocate Girish Agnihotri had submitted that the petitioner had received two notices about holding of ‘24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship’ which had created confusion about the authenticity and genuineness of the event.”
