Othello in Telangana dialect

Nishumbita Ballet and Theatre Group in association Department of Language and Culture, Telangana, will stage Shakespeare’s famous play ‘Othello’ in Telangana dialect at Ravindra Bharathi on August 24.
Nishumbita Ballet and Theatre Group in association Department of Language and Culture, Telangana, will stage Shakespeare’s famous play ‘Othello’ in Telangana dialect at Ravindra Bharathi on August 24.
The play is adapted, translated and directed into the Telugu language by Dr Rammohan Holagundi. William Shakespeare’s intense romantic tragedy of ‘Othello’ will be now presented in as the play ‘Karrigadu’ in Telangana dialect. ‘Othello’ takes the local Telangana folk flavour to portray the intense love story of ‘Karrigadu’.
The play is about the romantic tragedy of Othello, who works as Black General in the Venetian Army. Lago is Othello’s ambitious friend. Othello promotes the Michael Cassio to the position of personnel lieutenant and Lago is deadly jealous. Lago begins an evil and malicious campaign against the Othello.
Othello elopes with Desdemona but Lago starts to plot against them. Othello becomes jealous and suspicious of Desdemona. He confides in Lago that he plans to poison Desdemona.
Plots and murders ensue and Othello returns to the castle to kill his innocent wife. He eventually smothers her to death. Emilia tells Othello the truth about the scheming Lago. Othello wounds Lago and then kills himself. Lago kills Emilia.
