Inland Hobie-16 open sailing from today

Artillery Water Sport Association (AWSA) will be conducting the 7th Inland Hobie-16 open sailing championship in association with State Authority of Telangana State (SATS) and Telangana State Sailing Association (TSSA) at Hussainsagar Lake from August 17 to 20.

Lt Col Ashish Saxena, Secretary, National Hobie Class Association of India (NHCA) said “15 teams from eight different clubs across India will participate in the championship. A total of 12 races will be conducted between August 18 and 20, depending upon the tide and wind” he added.

“Two women teams (Harshita/Aishwarya and Ragini/Arundathi) will also compete for the Best Lady Sailor Trophy. Sailors from the EME Sailing Association (EMESA), AWSA and NCC will also be seen I,n action.”

“Harshita and Kaushal Kumar won the gold medal in the recent Inter-State sailing championship. Aishwarya and Dilip Sarmah came second while Ragini and Jaspreet Singh were third,”: he said.

Meanwhile, defending champion Hav Kaushal Kumar and OpR Vishhu Prasad of AWSA will be aiming to retain the title. They recently won a gold medal in the Hyderabad Sailing Week Championship.”
