The celebration of 20 years of the foundation of Rinda Saranya, the kuchipudi dance school of Dr Yashoda Thakore was held at Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday.

Senior and junior students put up a sterling performance to commemorate this occasion. The function was attended by Papa Rao, adviser to government of Telangana.

The traditional Vani paraku heralded the program. Potana's Vinayaka kautvam in Naata ragam, choreographed by Sindhuja and performed by Harshini, Samyuktha, Ananya and others were well done.

Obeisance is paid to Lord Ganesha,eater of modakas, riding the mooshika who removes obstacles and grants boons.

A pure dance piece called Swarapallavi was enacted by the younger students. Sampreeti was a stately and elegant Goddess Saraswathi the main character in a daruvu by the learned scholar Dr Pappu Venugopala Rao who was present to see his composition performed. Mandodari Shabdam in Mohana raagam by CR Acharyulu depicting the story of Ravana's wooing of Mandodari when he mistook her for Parvati was presented by Apeksha, Sirisha and Aalekhya.

This is a Saalam Daruvu traditionally presented in Kings courts.The characteristic Tarangam of Narayana Tirtha involving the dancers balancing on the brass plate's rim was done by Hansika,Soumya and Mallika.

Padam "Paata paadu ma Krishna” of Balantrapu Rajanikanta Rao has the friend of Krishna requesting him to play the flute.The piece contained very sensitive abhinaya by Sindhuja.

Hamsaanandi Tillana on Lord Krishna followed.The highlight of the evening was a Mini-ballet on "Ushas" or dawn with eight verses taken from the Rig Veda Samhita paraphrased in English translation.

The movements were inspired by the Nritta Ratnavali of Jayappa Senani.
