World record mega marathon carrom begins

Andhra State Carrom Association (ASCA), Hyderabad Carrom Association jointly organising Mega Marathon Carrom begun at Dandamudi Rajagopalarao Municipal Corporation (DRRMC) Indoor stadium in Hyderabad.

International Carraom players and Limca Book of Record holders Husna Sameera and Allada Pavan has been playing the carrom marathon for register World record of 43 hours 45 minutes and 56 seconds.

The game will be continued today from 6.45 pm.

Vijayawada City Mayor Koneru Sridhar has inaugurated the mega marathon carrom at DRRMC indoor stadium on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that marathon carraom being conducted on the eve of Christmas is definitely success.

He appreciated the both state carrom associations for conducting the marathon carrom in the city. He conveys his best wishes to Husna Sameera and Allada Pavan.

“Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman PR Mohan said that the state government has adopted a new sports policy for develop the sports and games in the state.

The government mooted to strengthen the sports and games from village level to state level, it would give good results in National and International level”, Mayor Koneru Sridhar said.

According to AICA Technical Director of Carraom Association Ravindran, the game would continue till to Monday evening.

There is 20 minutes break for every four hours, he said. The event has been conducting in the presence of Chief Coordinator of Guinness World Record Squadron leader Jayasimha, Mayor Koneru Sridhar added.

All India Carrom Association (AICA) president Dr Neeraj Kumar Sampathy, vice-president Chandra Mouli, Andhra state secretary Vijay Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) general secretary Purushotham, Krishna district president Pattabhi, secretary A Pandu Ranga Rao, DSDO Sirajuddhin and others participated in the mega marathon inauguration ceremony.
