Karimnagar: Students can develop both physically and mentally by participating in sports, advised District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed.He inaugurated district-level Polytechnic Sports and Games competitions at Dr B R Ambedkar Polytechnic College in Karimnagar on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector suggested students to develop interest in playing sports and games along with concentrating on academics because sports teach discipline and living with discipline would pave way to reach higher positions in life.

“Participation is most important not winning or losing,” said the Collector. Suggesting students to perform well in the competitions, he said that those, who perform well at district-level, will be selected to participate for state-level competitions to be held in January last week.

As many as 600 students from four government and 10 private Polytechnic Colleges from four districts of Karimnagar, Jagtial, Sircilla and Peddapalli would participate in the tournaments. Volley ball, badminton, table tennis, kabaddi, kho-kho and chess competitions will be held on the occasion.

Karimnagar Polytechnic College Principal B Raj Gopal, Sircilla Polytechnic College Principal P Sambamurthy, Physical Directors P Srinivas, K Ravi and District Youth and Sports Development Officer Ashok Kumar were present along with others.
