Armoor: Works on establishing industrial units are going on at a brisk pace at Lakampalli Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The completion of the project will enable employment to thousands.
Construction works of the mega food park at Lakampalli SEZ in Nandipet mandal are going on at a fast pace. It is the first ever food park to come up in the Telangana State.
While it is being promoted by Smart Agro Industries Corporation (SAIC), the State government is providing amenities at a cost of Rs 110 crore for the park.
The park comprises cold storages, warehouses, package lines, material handling infrastructure, quality assurance lab, research and development buildings and roads. Besides, there will be maize, soya and turmeric-based industries, milk, soya milk and oil processing units.
The industrial units in the park will have machinery that could separate vegetables and fruits according to the sizes. They will have the facility to ripen the farm-products. Temporary quarters will be allotted to the for pollution controlling staff.
Once the project comes up on a full-scale, it could provide jobs to thousands of people. Seven years ago, the Andhar Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) acquired 460 acres of land from the farmers to set up the park. But, it is the TRS government which took the project to the next phase.
Those who are interested in setting up their units here have to sign a contract with the park for 30 years. The park will extend all support to the investors. The park is 0.5 km away from Nandipet and 20 km from the district headquarter town.
