The Parliamentary Committee members, under the leadership of Renuka Chowdary, visited Velugumatla Urban Park in Khammam on Sunday and inspected the developmental works that are under way and planted saplings.

Speaking to the media, Renuka said that the committee is striving hard to study the changes that are taking place in Science and Technology for protecting the environment. The committee noticed the problem of water supply to both irrigation and drinking purpose across India and submitted as many as 300 reports to the government, she added.

Good amount of rainfall across the country will solve the problem and to witness plenty of rainfall steps must be taken for increasing of green cover by planting large number of saplings along with protecting the existing trees, she pointed out.
The committee will strive hard for establishment of a special board for cleaning the Godavari river like that of Ganga river by taking the issue to the notice of the Central government, she assured.

It is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment. Living in good and clean environment is good for the people to keep their health in better condition and that can be achieved by planting the saplings, she suggested.

By using satellite services necessary suggestions were given to the people living in rural areas about what type of crop plants are best suitable for the soil present in their fields along with steps to be taken for preventing the spread of contagious diseases.

The members of the Science and Technology Environment Parliamentary Committee Pankaj Chowdhary, S R Balasubrahmanyam, Namadeshwar Prasad, Vandana Chavan, C H Sukram Singh Yadav, Nagendra Singh, Vikram Usandhi, Nasabahu Palanga Rao Patel, Shivaji, Hrudral Rao Patel, C P Narayan, Parsana Charya, E T Mohammad Bhusheer, P N Pandai, Rajeev Saxena, Harish Kumar, Bheem Singh, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, District Forest Chief Conservator Venkatanarasaiah and Khammam Municipal Commissioner B Srinivas were present along with others.
