Appropriate arrangements are being made for celebrating the 34th Ganesh Chaturthi festival which will be held from September 9-18 on a grand scale.

Bhagyanagar Utsava Samithi (BUS) President G Raghava Reddy said that appropriate arrangements are being made for celebrating the 34th Ganesh Chaturthi festival which will be held from September 9-18 on a grand scale. He inaugurated an office which will be used to oversee the festivals at Bahati Bhavan in Siddiamber Bazaar on Friday. He sought the presence of lakhs of devotees at a public meeting to be held at Nizam Grounds on September 1.

General Secretary of the BUS, Bhagavanta Rao said the organisers of the festivals were facing various forms of assault by police. “The police are targeting certain Hindu festivals,” he asserted. He made it clear that the discrimination against Hindu temples and festivals by the police department would not be tolerated anymore.

Bhagavanta demanded the government to provide arrangements for festivals and free power supply to Ganesh pandals. “Permission from police is not required to erect Ganesh Pandals. But intimation on the pandal is enough,” he added. In order to display unity of Hindus, he urged devotees to perform mass Aarati to Lord Vinayaka everyday at 9 pm in the pandals. He suggested the devotees to hoist a saffron coloured flag at the places of worship. He also stated that Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Ashok Singhal and Swamy Chinmayananda from Uttar Pradesh including many religious leadersof the state will be present in the public meeting.

Members of BUS Baddam Bal Reddy, Daivagna Sharma, Ramaraju, Bugga Rao, Muralidhar Deshpande, Bhavar Lal Varma, secretaries Ravinutala Sridhar, Mahendar and representatives of various political parties were present at the programme.
