Sukanya and Suchita who are popularly known as ReSonance sisters started their musical journey from the age of 4 and they continue on the path, giving performances and striving to create their own music that connects to people
When Sukanya used to learn the guitar and harmonica from her father, and Sanchita was taking singing class from her mother. “Ever since our childhood we have been harmonizing and singing together, it was quite easy for us to internalise music and experiment,” said Sukanya.
Though music was in their lifestyle from the beginning and got an immense support from their parents, they received the appreciation of city listeners on a very special occasion of World Music Day where they got the opportunity to perform and share the same stage with some international musicians. “Our maiden performance in Hyderabad was an opportunity given to us by Joe Koster & Pratap Antony (Founder of Hyderabad Western Music Foundation),” admitted the duo who are constantly working on their original sound with an acoustic feel and trying to create their signature.
According to them, such element in their sound helps them bring in melody and harmonies which is heart touching and a way to reach the audience. “The best part of our musical journey is we are in the city Hyderabad where we have an open and like-minded audience. They are open to different genres of music and are always supportive of new talents,” said Suchita.
It has been noticed that in Indian music scenario, many artistes have complained of facing unfair competition between individual album and film music. Though it has become easier to reach out to younger audience using online platform, it is yet to become a part of popular culture in commercial platform like radio. But it seems they have taken the process of popularise individual music as challenge as they express their view, “We perceive, in our country music has primarily promoted through Cinema, unlike in the West. However, we feel, independent artistes and bands are now evolving in India, thanks to many live concerts that are happening these days where newcomers like us are getting platforms to get connected with people,” said Sukanya who recently performed with her sister in Hard Rock Café, Hyderabad.
Apart from performing the mainstream top chart covers with varied styles, they are developing their musical thought. Right now they have a skeleton of the concepts that they are working on to make it sound complete with lyrics and the arrangement. “Once done, we’ll be ready to roll! Our future plan is to create music that connects with people, and breaks barriers of language and culture. We would love to reach out to people and spread the happiness, joy and the meaning that music brings,” concluded the duo.
