Cellphones have become a necessary part of everyday life but it is important to turn them off or silence them while pursuing activities or when studying or during dinner time. They can interfere in the lives of those who feel nervous about turning them off, especially those people who refuse to switch off their cellphones at all.

According to a study, too much information can paralyse the senses and leave the person feeling depleted. Hence, it is highly important to switch off cellphones from time to time and talk to friends and family face to face. Students who had the habit of checking their phones from time to time could develop ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and it is advisable to turn them off while studying or when attending a meeting.

Phone usage could be reduced by turning it off while in a movie theatre or by leaving it in a car. Using cellphones during meal times was a strict no-no and it was better to engage with friends and family in meaningful conversations. The urge to update a facebook status or a tweet must also be controlled while doing something important.

Addictive cell phone behaviour could even put an individual's life at risk, because of distractive driving or walking. It was better to look up for directions before getting in the car to avoid looking at a GPS while driving. The study recommended that a person can also reduce the cell phone addiction by going on a walk, with a partner, child or pet, with the phone resting at home.
