Samsung’s new trifecta

Samsung, at its noted event, Galaxy unpacked in Berlin, revealed its three new devices which had been in the pipeline for some time, Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and the Galaxy Note 10.1(2014 edition) tablet.

The highly anticipated wristwatch was launched by Samsung much ahead of a similar product in the works by Apple. The Gear acts as an extension to the smartphone by discreetly alerting users to incoming messages and calls on the 1.63 inch display screen. Users also have the option of making calls via their Gear without having to whip out their phones. A basic camera accompanies it along with compatibility with popular social media apps like RunKeeper and Twitter. The Gear will be available in six trendy colours- Jet Black, mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold and Lime Green. Powered by Android, the device will be available from September 25 at Rs 19,772. Initially, the device will be compatible with Samsung Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Successor to the Galaxy Note II, the company unveiled the new Note offering at the event. The phone-cum-tablet features a 5.7 inch full HD Super AMOLED screen, improved stylus functions, a 13 mega pixel rear camera, improved stylus functions and faster data connection than the conventional 4G. An enhanced security solution, KNOX too was added to the phone by the company. Powered by Android 4.3 OS, its LTE version is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, while it’s 3G model will have a 1.9Ghz octa-core processor. In terms of memory, the phone has a 3GB RAM capacity and is available in 32 GB or 64GB internal storage along with the option of an additional microSD card slot. The phone will be available in Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink.

A new member was added to the Tab family of Samsung. Galaxy note 10.1 (2014) edition, comes with a 10.1-inch WQXGA, super clear LCD display. The tablet will be available in three variants in terms of connectivity, WiFi only, WiFi and 3G, WiFi and LTE available in 16/32/64 GB and Micro SD card option. The two colours offered are Jet Black and Classic White. The tablet is powered by Android 4.3 Os and an 8 megapixel front camera. It packs a 8,220mAh Li-on battery. It will be available from Q3, 2013.
