“Density of Indian Postal Service is very high and relevance of postal service cannot be relegated with the advent of electronics”, said B V Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General of Andhra Pradesh circle on Friday. Sudhakar was addressing the media at Dak Bhavan, Abids as part of National Postal Week that is celebrated from October 9 to 15.
With the new range of services that were being brought in, the postal department for the year 2012-13 has earned a revenue of Rs 785 crore. “It was Rs 60 crore in 2010-11, Rs 647 crore in 2011-12 and we aiming to cross Rs 1000 crore for the year 2013-14” said B V Sudhakar.
Briefing various insurance services, CPG asserted that it was the only agency which is giving high bonus for low premium.
Sampoorna Jivan Bima Gram that was initiated recently with an aim to cover every household in the village has covered 438 villages against the target of 580 villages in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking on Mee Seva services, Sudhakar said they are rendering Mee Seva services through 2,437 computerised post offices.
Newly launched Mobile Money Transfer Service (MMTS) which enables customers to take money order payments is available in 1350 post offices. However, only upto Rs 10,000 can be sent through this trail service. MMTS service is much cheaper than the ordinary money order service.

Through this innovative ‘My stamp’ service, one can print his/her photograph along with the stamp and use them for transmitting their communications across the country.
“Postal service of AP circle is holding talks with the state government on implementing developmental schemes like ‘Bangaru Thalli’, he said.
CPG said that in view to extend the services in a broader dimension, postal service would open 13 new post offices in Andhra Pradesh in which seven will be departmental post office and six will function as branch offices before March 2014.
Replying to a question on delivering driving license at their door step to the recipient, location of the license can tracked by checking with their mobile phone numbers on the India Post website.
In all Rs 1.57 crore MGNREGA accounts have been opened in which Rs 10,626 crore has been disbursed to the beneficiaries in 14 districts since February 2006. Besides social security pensions, Instant Money Order, the India Post has come with Asheervachanam’ scheme to enable devotees to donate Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD).
