Long ago, a young boy who started playing with a piano at the age of eight is today, the first Indian ever to be selected at Ministry of Sound. That’s Aaryan Gala, who is on a roll to spin India’s nightlife, with his own compilation and mixes. He’s known to construct non-stop sets called “DJ Mixes”, which all gets uploaded on his SoundCloud page.

His musical versatility can be easily proven by the fact that he can effortlessly switch between playing deep, melodic warm-ups to working packed main rooms with pounding progressive house, trance and techno. The young prodigy will be playing at Kismet, The Park Hotel, Raj Bhavan Road, Somajiguda on Saturday.

MoS has identified talents on the turn-table like Eric Prydz, Benny Benassi , Kid Cudi and many more, how does it feel to be identified as one amongst them?

Well, I haven't really reached that stage yet, where I can be named among these legends. Of course, I'm focused and I dream big and hopefully, someday, be able to make a name for myself in the dance music industry like them.

It is an honour to be a part of MoS. But of late, there has been a sort of criticism on the MoS that it often ends up being called a dead career. Do you disagree? Do you feel that you would be able to change the mundane?

Well, it was an honour to get trained there. All the lessons taught by my mentors Andy Woods, Jamie Griffiths, Chris Finke are helping me today. I don't think the criticism MOS faces, has anything do to with one's career. If you are keen on learning everyday, you will make it big someday.

I have seen the video of 'Animated Love', the video has been shot in different locales of India, the stop motion + animation theme was laudable and also the choice of locations… From Goa to streets of Mumbai (I guess)? Tell me, what are glitches one faces, when one has a chunk of tracks but has to shoot a video to make an EP. How challenging is it to make a video for an EP?

'Animated Love' is an EP which consists of three versions of the track - original mix, extended mix and radio edit. Firstly, it is quite difficult to choose the version, you want the video to be made of. Secondly, the concept is really important. Depends from what you name the track and who do you want to feature in the video. The Atom's Theory (Prince Raheja & Sumanta Das) and I decided to star ourselves in the video. Because I had named the track 'Animated Love', I wanted some kind of animation running throughout the video. Stop motion was decided, seeing the pace at which we people run all throughout the day, but still love the fact that we belong here. It took us over a month to plan the video and within three days, we shot around 3400 pictures.

Considering the fact that most of the music and mixing goes without the video, how hard is it for a DJ to make a video song?

It is quite hard to choose a concept. Everything is possible. If you wish to achieve something, hard work is needed and it pays off.

Few years ago, dubstep came, a new genre of music and was an eye candy among many DJs...it is lately losing its sheen and ‘trap’ is making its way to India also. Tell me, what do you feel about this new genre of music and also how updated one DJ has to be, when it comes to versatility in genres?

A DJ can choose/stick to any genre they want. However, I believe that sticking to one genre always helps. The depth of knowledge you wish to gain in one genre helps you producer better music. I really don't believe that genres of music lose their charm. Any kind of music works, if it is good to the ears.

How many times have to come to Hyderabad and what do you feel about the upcoming performance?

I had visited the city long time ago, during my SSC vacations. I love the food there. I am really excited to perform for the first time here.

What do think about the music scene in Hyderabad?

I think the music scene there is really good. In fact, all across the country, music is appreciated and so are the artists. Today's crowd knows what they want; they will stick to their genre no matter what
