World Heritage Week Begins, Kick-Start World Heritage Week. The weeklong celebrations are being conducted in all district museums throughout the State and entry to all museums of A P State Archaeology Department is free during this week to public.

A special exhibition of engravings and paintings purchased by the Nizam of Hyderabad in 1931 was opened to the public by the Department of Archaeology & Museums on Tuesday at the Bhagavan Mahaveer Auditorium of Dr YSR A P State Museum on Tuesday to kick-start World Heritage Week. B Srinivas, Director of Archaeology & Museums inaugurated the exhibition.
The director of Archaeology and museums stressed on the importance of preserving the rich cultural heritage, monuments and for safeguarding them for posterity. He stressed that the staff of Archaeological Department particularly youngsters should re-dedicate themselves towards creating an awareness in public and preserving our Heritage for posterity.

Dr Ramakrishna Rao, Deputy Director (T), Umamaheswar, executive engineer, Sai Bhakta Kesava, Deputy Director (M), M A Quaiyum, Deputy Director Engineer (Retd), Qarni, Former Restorer, Salarjung Museum, Assistant Director (T), Dr YSR A P State Museum and Museum staff were present on the occasion.
The department has planned a series of programmes throughout the week, from 19th -25th November. Essay writing and painting competition for school children juniors (7 to 12 years) and seniors (13 to 15 years)
Students have to register their names at 10:00 AM on 23-11-2013 at Dr YSR A P State Museum, Hyderabad. The competitions would start at10.30 a.m. drawing sheets and white paper would be supplied, however, participants need to carry water colours and other necessary material.
The topic for the painting competition is ‘Any Historical Monument’ and for the essay competition it is ‘Conservation of monuments in present society and role of public.’
The prizes to winners would be given on November 25 in the concluding session of World Heritage Week at Paryatak Bhavan.
