Steam users and gamers alike will soon adore the new SteamOS that Valve has unveiled. The new SteamOS is said to be built on a Linux base. This operating system is finally out for download. Considering the open source nature of the file, it is available for free on the internet. But as mentioned on Steam’s official website, the download is not as easy as it seems. It is a slightly more complicated affair. For someone who is familiar with Linux and those who aren’t intimidated by the command line, they should get the OS working with little trouble. But those depending on an install-wizard should be cautious. The OS currently assists all the games that Linux and Ubuntu series support. Though, the ease of use is still debatable. It has been reported that this version is the beta version and further kinks and corners will soon be tweaked in the upcoming versions. Currently, understanding the demand that Steam has, their servers are said to be overworked. So it is advised to be patient.

How to install SteamOS?
The easiest method is an image-based install using CloneZilla. You will need to create a SteamOS System Restore USB stick to perform this install. The image provided here requires at least a 1TB disk.
Format a 4GB or larger USB stick with the FAT32 filesystem. Use "SYSRESTORE" as the partition name. Unzip the contents of SYSRESTORE.zip to this USB stick to create the System Restore USB stick
Put the System Restore USB stick in your target machine. Boot your machine and tell the BIOS to boot off the stick. (Usually something like F8, F11 or F12 will bring up the BIOS boot menu).
Make sure you select the UEFI entry. It may look something like "UEFI: Patriot Memory PMAP"
Select "Restore Entire Disk" from the GRUB menu.
System Restore will proceed automatically. When it is complete it will reboot into your freshly re-imaged SteamOS.
