Protest Against Singham Returns.

All Hindu organisations under the National Hindu Movement held a silent protest at Dharna Chowk, NTR Stadium, against the movie ‘Singham Returns’ scheduled to be released on August 15. The movie was majorly shot in Ramoji Film City and Golconda Fort. The organisations claimed that there was a direct attack on Hindus in the movie.

“Hindu saints have been depicted as hooligans and a dialogue in the movie ‘I have not come here to listen to your useless discourse’ is an insult to the Hindus. However, in another scene, the hero in his Police uniform is shown wearing the Islamic skull cap and offering namaz,” stated the organisations. “He comes out and salutes the mosque. The downright contrasting scenes have potential to create hatred among the two religions and spread communalism. Therefore, the movie must be banned immediately. Similarly, the 12 per cent reservation to Muslims offered by the Telangana Government is unconstitutional and causes contempt of court and hence, should be cancelled,” they added.

Chetan Janardhan of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti said, “If law and order problem arose due to the scenes in ‘Singham Returns’ which severely hurt the religious feelings of Hindus, the Censor Board would be solely responsible for the same as it always ignored incidences of the insult of Hindu dharma. Therefore, the board should immediately take initiative and compel the producers to make changes in the movie. All the Hindu organisations have united in this regard and have vowed not to tolerate ridicule of Hindu deities, saints and any matter associated with Hindu culture.”
