As part of its commitment to make Hyderabad a world-class metropolis, the Telangana government has proposed about Rs 2, 000 crore for the GHMC, HMWSSB and Metro Rail in its budget for 2015-16. Finance Minister E Rajender on Wednesday said that an additional 260 million gallons of water per day (MGPD) will be supplied to the city by the end of this year.

He added that liberal assistance was being given to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) to complete Krishna Phase-III and Godavari Phase-I water works. “Apart from cleansing the Hussainsagar lake, the government is planning for strategic road and skyline development in the city with an amount of Rs 1,600 crore,” he said.
As part of the measures for public safety and security, the government has taken up CCTV project under which one lakh CCTV cameras will be installed in the city during 2015-16. All these cameras will be connected to the proposed Command and Control Centre. Rajender also assured that the Hyderabad Metro would be completed by July 2017 as per schedule. Rs 526 crore for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Rs 416 crore for the Hyderabad Metro Rail and Rs 1,000 crore for the HMWS&SB, was proposed in the budget.
Proposing Rs 973 crore for industrial incentives, the minister said that 20 lakh acres of land, identified as unfit for cultivation in the state, would be developed for industrial use. The state will develop a new pharma city in 11,000 acres at Mucherla village, which is just 30 minutes' drive from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road. Hyderabad-Warangal Industrial Corridor, textile hub at Warangal and mini industrial townships along with industrial parks are also proposed to be developed during the year.
