The Department of Drug Control Administration (DCA) Telangana conducted a survey on spurious & not of standard quality drugs on Monday. 57 drug inspectors from Telangana and volunteers from two NGOs- ‘Partnership for Safe Medicine’ and ‘Consumer Care Centre’ visited various pharmacies, druggists and hospital stores to collect samples of various drugs and medicines.

The Department of Drug Control Administration (DCA) Telangana conducted a survey on spurious & not of standard quality drugs on Monday. 57 drug inspectors from Telangana and volunteers from two NGOs- ‘Partnership for Safe Medicine’ and ‘Consumer Care Centre’ visited various pharmacies, druggists and hospital stores to collect samples of various drugs and medicines. The pharmacies and hospitals were selected across Telangana on random basis.

The checks would continue for two days. Two-member teams collected six samples each of different tablets, syrups, capsules, ointments, saline etc. The collected samples would be sent to National Institute of Biologicals, Delhi for analysis to test whether they are of standard or poor quality. The aim of the exercise is to prevent supply of the use of spurious and poor quality medicines.
