The seventh Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan Asaf Jah ruled the then Hyderabad State from 1911 to 1948. During his time he did various development activities for the people of Hyderabad State. He also served as Rajpramukh from 26 January 1950 till 31 October 1956.

Sahebzadi Rasheedunissa, grand-daughter of Mir Osman Ali Khan, who inaugurated the exhibition, shared, “The seventh Nizam developed the Hyderabad in a modern way. He built 48 projects and established 56 trusts for people. He provided pensions for poor and encouraged students with scholarships.

Most of the buildings in Hyderabad are constructed during his regime. He also made one common ticket for all travels like buses and trains. Still, we are using the same drainage system, roads and the buildings that he constructed during his period. The architecture he provided for the Hyderabad is outstanding. He also donated 5k gold for the Indian government. We should notice great services he did for the people.”

One can see at the exhibition model photos of buildings and projects built during the reign of seventh Nizam, like High Court, State Library, Town Hall, Exhibition Hall, Osmania General Hospital, General Unani Hospital, Jagirdar’s College, City College, Wyra Reservoir, Pocharam Lake, Osmansagar, Himayatsagar, Nizamsagar, Arts college of Osmania University, Mehaboobia School, Jubilee Hall, Kacheguda and Nampally railway stations, Asfia Library, Mouzzam Jahi Market and more.

The display also has various interesting artifacts like ‘Monogrammed Porcelain Tea Set’, ‘Gold Glided Lighter’, ‘Huqqa Glass Plate’, ‘Curved and Straight Swords’, ‘Dark Cherry Amber Rosary’, ‘Procelain Coffee Set’, ‘Jade Hand Mirrors’, ‘Silver Vase’ and ‘Silver Caskets’. The core of the museum is a rich collection of souvenirs, gifts, mementos, and models presented to the 7th Nizam on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations in 1937.
