Hyderabad: The State government aims to ensure that benefits of welfare schemes reached all eligible persons, said Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav here on Saturday after holding a review meeting in his Secretariat chambers. Among those present were Secretary of Animal Husbandry S K Sultania, Fisheries Commissioner Suvarna, Director Dr Venkateshwarlu, MD of Sheep and Goat Development Samakya Lakshma Reddy.

The minister stated that sheep were distributed to representatives of the Golla and Kuruma community at a cost of Rs.5,000 crore. As many as 21 crore fishlings last year and 52 crore were distributed this year for the benefit of fishermen.

He directed the department officials to take steps for establishing cooperative societies for sheep rearers and fishermen. While the term of the societies in Mahbubnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda was over that of the societies in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy and Medak would last till next year.

The minister directed officials to take steps for holding election to 7,037 sheep societies and 946 fishermen’s cooperative societies in the State.

He said soon the Cabinet sub-committee meeting would be convened for taking a comprehensive decision on holding the elections and the proposals sent to the Chief Minister.
