Charminar: The incomplete developmental works have been irking the people in many parts of Old City. Several infrastructure development works are either not complete or going on at a snail’s pace.

Major reason for such apathy seems to be the reckless attitude of the contractors, who take up the works. Most of the pending works are related to pipelines, internal roads, drain lines, manholes and others. Lack of regular inspection by the civic authorities is also giving the contractors free hand.

Works in the Riyasatnagar, Hydernagar, Midhani Junction, Rajanarsimha Colony, Imadia Function hall and other areas have been either stalled or half complete. The incomplete repair works become a pain in the neck for the locals and create severe inconveniences for movement of vehicles. The stretch between Riyasathnagar market and Phisalbanda is especially damaged and left unattended in the name of drainage line repair.

Locals have demanded the GHMC officials to address their problems at the earliest and take action against the contractors causing delay in the works. In some place, contractors have not covered the manholes and did not install the covers. This is leading to accident on this stretch. Local MBT leaders have demanded the GHMC officials to take notice of the issue and complete the stalled works.
