Kukatpally: Activists of the Youth Congress, under the leadership of Ravi Kumar, vice-president, set fire to an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi protesting against the daily increase of petroleum products.

Addressing the participants in the protest, Kumar hit out at the BJP-led NDA government for burdening people with price rise of essential commodities, after they had voted the party to power in the hope that it would ensure their welfare.

He pointed out that petrol price had risen from Rs.60 a litre to Rs.84 now, while urging the government to take immediate steps to bring it down. If not, the YC leader warned, people would teach the BJP a lesson in the ensuing elections. Among the participants were Chevella YC president Mahipal Yadav, division party Congress president Yekanth Goud, Greater Hyderabad YC leader Chirumarti Raju.
