Kukatpally: Local MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao on Wednesday held discussions in JNTU with Registrar Yadayya, along with officials of the Engineering and HMWSSB, regarding foul smell emanating from fish market and non-veg shops adjacent to the university gate.

The JNTU officials informed that foul smell was causing hardship to inmates of the women’s hostel, while pleading for shifting of the shops. They appealed to Rao to prevail upon HMWSSB to change the water tariff to JNTU to domestic and to prevent dumping of garbage by adjoining colony residents.

The MLA assured JNTU officials to take action. He inspected the Bhagatsinghnagar phase I along with JNTU and GHMC officials, following complaints by residents of foul smell emanating en route as sewerage was flowing. The university officials said there would be no problem now as a separate sewer line has been laid.

The residents held a meeting in Bhagarsinghnagar community hall to discuss problems like water supply, drainage lines, CC cameras, indoor shuttle court, mahila mandali building. In response, the MLA stated that 90 per cent of the works had been completed. The drainage lines would be laid soon. He assured to arrange additional water supply, if a letter is submitted, to release funds if GHMC allots land for shuttle court, as also for the mahila mandali.

The MLA launched CC road work in flyover IV phase for the convenience of those going towards the VII phase. Among those present were Town Planning ACP Rajkumar, DE Nageswara Rao, AE Rupa Devi, Water Works GM Anil, TRS division president Saibaba Choudary.
