East Marredpally: A free health camp was conducted by the Yoga Samelana Arogasidilam at Adduguta here on Sunday. The camp attracted a number of people, especially women. Oncologists from different hospitals checked patients and also referred a few for further tests.

Medical practitioners from OMNI, Lions Club, RK Super Specialty Dental Hospital and other hospitals checked patients. Dr B B Reddy of OMNI Hospital said, “This camp has ben conducted for patients who cannot afford to visit corporate hospitals. We did rudimentary tests but when we feel that patients need additional tests, we refer them for more.”

The Lions Club provided free medicines and one of the members took care of the free eye checkup. D Yadagiri, a resident said, “This camp is for the people who can’t afford medical facilities. This area is predominantly populated by the poor. There should be more such camps.”

Bhargavi N, a patient said, “By conducting free health camp is really good thing. Most of the women are busy with their work and they don’t have time for health check up. Such free health camps help women.

During the camp, BP, sugar test, weight was checked. Most women were comfortable if a lady doctor checked them and an official said that in the next camp, they would ensure that more women doctors would be posted. Another patient Rama said, “This campaign is very useful for us and I hope every month such camps are organised.”
