Chandrayangutta: Uppuguda Railway Under Bridge (RUB) work has been lingering for the past 42 months even as the authorities claiming to finish the works six months earlier. The work was started on November 24, 2007 by the late Chief Minister of united AP, YS Rajashekhar Reddy, however, works could not be completed in the stipulated time.

Construction works were started after the formation of the Telangana State and authorities claimed to complete it within six months. Because of the tardy construction works, the area near the Uppuguda railway gate is wearing a deserted look. Earlier, the area was full of activity following the makeshift markets and business was thriving and used to be more during festival seasons like Bonalu, Vinayaka Chavithi and others.

It is alleged that due to the laxity of the town planning officials, the process of acquisition of land for the RUB was not completed and compensation was not paid to some of the property owners. This led to delay of the works on the RUB.The construction works affected the business and festivals could not be celebrated in the area. The gates have been closed because of the works and it has remained so till now. A local businessman Rajanikanth said that earlier the entire area was a hub for business and now the works have destroyed the business.

He demanded that civic authorities need to complete the works to save the business here. If the RUB is completed soon, it would bring back the business and life in the area by means of proper transportation opines, Rakesh Kumar from Kandikal Gate.
