Seva Bharati Trust providing food at Rs 10 to kin of patients
Seva Bharati Trust (SBT), which was established in 2013 at Gandhi hospital, is serving food to patients and their families at a nominal charge of Rs 10. The Trust is serving food and shelter to nearly 250 people every day. The main aim of the Trust is to help poor people who come from distant places to Gandhi hospital to treatment.
Hyderabad: Seva Bharati Trust (SBT), which was established in 2013 at Gandhi hospital, is serving food to patients and their families at a nominal charge of Rs 10. The Trust is serving food and shelter to nearly 250 people every day. The main aim of the Trust is to help poor people who come from distant places to Gandhi hospital to treatment.
SBT was built when superintendent of Gandhi Hospital asked the Trust to construct a shelter for the kith and kin of patients admitted in the hospital. Earlier, they used to provide only shelter for people but now they are providing three-time food also only at the maintenance chargesof Rs 10. Narasimha Murthy, secretary of SBT, said, “The intention is to provide facilities for the patients and their families who come from far places.
We are getting funds from donors. After this initiative many organisations, IT companies and hotel managements have joined hands with us and helping with the food and other requirements. The branches in city are at Gandhi hospital, Osmania hospital and soon plans are to open branches at the other government hospitals in the city.”
Nanda Kumar, coordinator of SBT, said, “TheTrust is serving people for 24 hours and to help women patients in labour room, we have recruited three girls who also help in operation theatre in Gandhi Hospital. We are here to serve the patients and visitors in all the way.”
Mahalaxmi,a patient staying at the SBT shelter, said, “I came from Ameerpet as I’m suffering from back pain,the doctor suggested me to take rest and come back for the check up and I cannot do up and down every day thus I decided to take rest at Seva Bharathi.” She further said that the Trust people were providing all the facilities especially food, shelter and also providing bathing facilities.
