Tandur: TRS and Congress legislators locked horns over paying exorbitant wages to computer operators in the municipal council meeting held, here on Thursday. In the meeting, chaired by Sunita Sampat, the chairperson, both treasury and opposition benches traded charges. The TRS councilors Sobha Rani and Parimala came down heavily on Congress councilor L Ravi questioning the rationale behind retrenchment of the computer operators appointed last year.

They said that it was not justified to pay hefty pay of Rs 34000 a month to the persons who have no computer knowledge at all. Another councilor Srinivas, referring to the wordy duel, felt that it was not proper to resort to personal attacks throwing the issues on the agenda into the air. Councillor Ahmed accused the civic body of supplying drinking water at odd hours during nights to the detriment of the people. He said that the digging works taken up as part of the Mission Bhagiradha are making it inconvenient for the people to commute on the roads.

The Chairperson made a statement in the house that a decision would be taken on construction of the Press Club in the town. TRS floor leader Razaak alleged that the Golla tank in the town is emitting reeking smell and highlighted the mosquito menace in the town and sought remedial measures. Member of the House Zubair Lala alleged that several structures are being built in the town without permission. Municipal Commissioner Bhogeswarlu, Town planning officer Ershad and others took part in the meeting.
