Charminar: To avoid heavy inflow of water from the adjoining Mir-Alam tank into the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, the zoo management after putting a constant vigil on the water flow and as a part of “precautionary measure” a weir has been constructed on Singoji lake and a water channel was erected from the entrance of the tiger safari.

This would connect to Musi river. The works began 15 days ago the weir was cleared of all the obstructions like - stones, rocks, debris of dry tree branches, sand etc.

The branches of trees were cut off so that the branches don’t fall in the nala blocking the flow of water.

Besides birds section approximately 300-400 metre long nala was also cleaned and the water level has decreased which allows the rain water to flow and enters into Musi river, the amount for the development work is sanctioned from Central Govt, stated G Gnyaneshwar Asst Curator – III.

The water level around the lake and inlets have been found that the water is stagnating near the lion safari to elephant moat area.

The clearing works of the debris and other obstructions were taken up to facilitate the speedy flow of water and to prevent stagnation of water level from lion safari to elephant moat area.
