Hyderabad: Emphasising on the need for changing policies in accordance with the changing socio-economic trends at the national and international level, CPI national leader AB Bardhan on Saturday criticised the CPI (M) and said that it was following outdated policies. Bardhan said by calling CPI as not a true Communist party, CPI (M) was trying to propagate half truth, which is more dangerous than a lie. Let the CPI (M) prove it, he demanded. Addressing a two-day debate on the 'CPI Draft Programme' at Makhdoom Bhavan here, he reprimanded CPI (M) for its criticism that the CPI has no programme. Communists should adopt those policies which go in tandem with the changing trends, but the CPI (M) is rigid and has not yet updated its programme, whereas, the CPI is following a programme for 10 years that will be reviewed now, he said. "We have recently released a related draft in the Patna meeting that will come out with a full-fledged programme followed by similar debates in other states," the national leader said. Since its inception in 1925, the CPI has been changing its programmes, he said and added that since 1954 they together had a common programme and on splitting up in 1964, the CPI (M) got its own programme, which needs to be revived, he stated. As situation demands, extending support to TRS for Telangana statehood or poll time alliance with TDP cannot be construed as there is a change in CPI's ideology, he said.
