The Telangana government’s decision to annul the Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations at the Parade Grounds had indeed spelled doom to the venue. The ground has now turned into a cesspool as sewage water spreads across the ground, spoiling the beauty of the surroundings. The leakage is because of overflowing drain pipes. The stagnant water emanates an obnoxious smell hindering the walkers.

Nagesh, a regular walker on the ground, says, “A drainage line burst somewhere which has lead to this flooding. We are finding it difficult to walk in the morning and evening. There is every chance of slipping and falling due to the loose soil created by dirty water.”

The Army has restricted the entry of children and students from playing in the premises. However, general public have been allowed to walk in the premises at specific timings. While this information has been prominently displayed at the main entrance gate near Lamba Talkies, there are no such boards at the other entrance adjacent to the Patny Bus Stop. As a result, the barbed wire has been breached by commoners to gain access to the ground. There is an urgent need to put up display boards at this location.
