High beam causes lot of inconvenience

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Traffic Police advised drivers and bike riders to use low beam while driving on city roads during night. In its advisory, the traffic police held that the high beam was causing a lot of inconvenience to the drivers of two and four wheelers, as high beam focus causes temporary loss of eyesight by which drivers lose their control over the vehicle leading to accidents. Due to high beam lights, pedestrians cannot judge the speed and distance of the vehicle while crossing the road, the traffic police said.

According to Additional CP (Traffic) Jitender, high beam lights also cause inconvenience to drivers due to which they are not able to access the rear and side mirror views properly. A total of 981 pedestrians were killed in 2012 in accidents mostly during night. Similarly, 925 were killed in 2013 and 811 were killed during 2014 till October end.
