The filing of nominations for the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) elections concluded on Friday. A total of 174 nominations were filed in the two days. 96 nominations were filed on Thursday. The ward-wise break up showed 42 nominations from Ward No. 1, 50 from Ward No. 2, 22 from Ward No. 3, 33 from Ward No.4, 60 from Ward No. 5, 43 from Ward No. 6, 23 from Ward No. 7, and 12 from Ward No. 8.

P Vittal, returning officer, SCB, said, “The highest number of nominations was from Ward No. 5 and the least number from Ward No 8. Examination of the nominations papers will be done till December 15, and verification of character and antecedents for eligibility will be done on December 17. Withdrawals of nominations can be on December 19 from 10.30 am to 4 pm.”

Huge crowd at the SCB office

Majority of the members who filed nominations on Friday, while talking to the media, said that their main aims would be to provide drinking water in the cantonment for each and every house in all the eight wards and solving other residual civic issues such as taking up the drainage and road laying works in various colonies and slums areas.
