GHMC felicitates its ex-sportspersons
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) felicitated former sportsmen with a unique Monthly Pension Scheme of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,500 respectively to the ailing and needy sportsmen of the city at a function held at GHMC Head Office on Tuesday.

Chief guest K Taraka Rama Rao, minister for panchayat raj, presented the Pension Scheme cheques to the beneficiaries. Sportsmen benefited from the scheme include Syed Abdul Salam, Football (Olympian), Md Zulfakaruddin, Football (Olympian), ISHH. Hamed, Football (Olympian), K Satyanarayana, Hockey (International), Bir Bahadur, Football (International), AC Mallesham, Kabaddi (National), G Vasudev Yadav, Kabaddi (International), Chandra Prakash Biradar, Kho-Kho (National).
Taraka Rama Rao appreciated the efforts of the GHMC in recognising the talents of the sportsmen and helping those in need of monitory benefits. He also requested the civic body to provide the sportsmen with Medical Insurance Scheme.
Special Commissioner Navin Mittal, Addl Commissioner Gowrav Uppal, P Gopichand, SM Arif, former Indian captain (football) Victor Amal Raj, AP Olympic Association secretary K Jagdeeshwar Yadav and Addl Commissioner (sports) Venkatrami Reddy were present at the occasion. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar welcomed the gathering while SR Premraj, OSD (sports), GHMC proposed a vote of thanks.
